The Chapter’s March meeting had special guest Mark Lewendowski, from the Buffalo Central Terminal RestorationCorporation, address over thirty members with a presentation. Mark gave the group a brief history of the terminal and where they hope it is going today. The chapter will be posting shortly on the events page a listing of the terminal events coming up this year.
A few interesting facts, the City of Buffalo was first approached in the late 1880’s by New York Central to build the terminal. It took 43 years until an agreement was reached with the City as to where the terminal would be built. Construction of the terminal, once begun, took only 24 months to be completed. The famous first Buffalo in the concourse was actually a stuffed American Bison belonging to the Buffalo Museum of Science. Buffalo Central Terminal has also appeared in at least 12 TV or Movies over the years.
